Activities
The variety of activities available at Club reflects the range of ages, abilities and interests of our members. Energetic games of hockey, volleyball or football are balanced by painting, table-top games and music. We are always keen to listen to suggestions and new ideas.
The facilities at the Shepherd Centre are ideal. There is a large sports hall for group activities, games and discos, while other activities can carry on in the two quieter lounges between the hi-fi and the pool table. The Club can also use a small kitchen for cooking, catering and setting up the tuck shop.
In the summer, the Club spreads out over the grass at the back of the Centre for rounders, more hockey, barbecues and the like."HERE COMES THE WEEKEND..."
Rickmansworth Gateway Club is proud of the amount of holidays and outings that it has run successfully in the past. The only rule is they must be fun. As always, every trip depends on having Club members who want to go, with enough support members to organise it.
DAYS OUT
Just recently, groups have spent a night shooting each other at Quasar, 10 pin bowling and running fundraising stalls at local summer fayres.
The Club always goes to a pantomime at Christmas (even tried to write their own one in the past!) and sports days, trips to Chessington or Whipsnade are often organised in the summer. Trips to football and rugby matches at Watford, ice hockey games, 10-pin bowling, drama shows and the odd meal may be appearing soon...
WEEKEND CAMPS (OFTEN COPIED, NEVER FORGOTTEN)
Organised as often as we feel it is time to disturb the countryside, the Club uses local centres, youth hostels and even tents to take members off for a weekend. A weekend in Dorking offered barbeques, a visit from an animal sanctuary, no electricity and plenty of time to walk off all the food - only the luggage got into the minibus.
This is the ONLY way to really experience Rickmansworth Gateway Club. From the deep end...
